How it works

An energy team, for the metering charge you already pay

Your electricity bill already includes a metering charge. Your retailer chose your metering company for you — and retailers generally charge more for metering than it costs them.

You're free to choose your own metering company instead. So here is what we do.

The gap funds your data, your reports and our advice.

  1. 01

We match your current metering charge, to the dollar

We read it from your bill. You pay the same amount, on the same bill, from the same retailer.

  2. 02

We arrange a metering company we've vetted

At a better rate than your retailer passes on to you. The metering agreement is between you and the metering company — not with us.

  3. 03

    The difference pays for us

We're paid by the metering company, out of the charge you already pay. Your proposal shows three lines: what the metering company keeps, what we earn, and your total — unchanged.

  4. 04

    Your data starts flowing

Once you're up and running, we can show you how your site used power, half-hour by half-hour, right up to yesterday — not a month later on a bill.

Same bill. Same total. An energy team you didn't have before.

Who it's for

Is this for my business?

One site or fifty — it works the same way for each.

It's for you if:

  • Your site uses about 100,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year or more — roughly 8,300 kilowatt-hours a month. Your bill shows the kilowatt-hours used. (The line is a little higher in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.)
  • Your bill shows metering as its own charge. Most business bills at this size do.
  • You'd rather run your business than study the electricity market.

If your site qualifies, this costs you nothing extra. We check that before we propose anything — including whether your current contracts carry exit fees, and whether your switchboard would need any work. If it doesn't stack up for your site, we'll say so, and we can still help with your next electricity contract.

Getting started

What happens after you send a bill

  1. 01

We read it. Your metering charge, your retailer, your usage, and whether your site qualifies.

  2. 02

We send you our proposal — your price (the same as today), what's included, what we earn, the length of the agreement and any early-exit costs.

  3. 03

You sign, and we get to work. If your meter needs to be swapped, we coordinate the timing with you. For a standard meter swap there is no upfront cost to you for the new meter.

  4. 04

    Your first monthly report follows.
